Should I get a netbook with Windows 7 or Windows XP?

Most netbooks I see run windows XP, but I also see some that run Windows 7 starter. I am leaning toward Windows 7 because I prefer the interface and it won't become obsolete as soon. My main concern with getting a Windows 7 netbook is performance. Most netbooks have relatively small processors, and only 1GB of ram. Will Windows 7 starter perform sluggishly as compared to Windows XP?
